This Raleigh couple wanted a stone fireplace in their new outdoor living area. An Artisan Fireplace was constructed with dry stack building stone and integrated into their raised deck. It has space for firewood storage and a counter top for hearthside cooking.
The wooden deck sits 6' above ground, so the masonry was built up to deck level. The fireplace is self-supporting and fits seamlessly over the decking so that boards can be easily removed for maintenance. The oversize design has a 48" opening, extends 15' across and reaches 16' high from ground level. In this high-traffic area, the hearth edges are rounded.
