Tips For Choosing Stone For Your Home Or Landscape

Here are a few simple tips to get you started:

1. When choosing stone for your project, consider not only color but sizes and shapes as well. Sizes and shapes tend to influence the finished appearance as much as color does.

2. Examine the properties of the stone: is it sleek, textured, colorful, monochromatic, rustic? For a cohesive design, notice the style and color of surrounding elements like cabinetry or landscaping and choose stone that's complementary.

3. Focus on a color that unifies your space but consider using light and dark elements to add visual interest. Keep contrast in the supporting role and let unity play the lead.

4. Think about mixing different types of stone for a custom result that makes a beautiful statement. Whether it's installed inside or in the garden, you can draw on the natural characteristics of stone to bring your project to life.

5. It's a good idea to see an example installed before you buy. You'll have a better idea of what to expect when your project is finished. Your stone center may have sample boards or browse the portfolio above for inspiration.

6. Keep in mind that it's more expensive to use building stone rather than veneer, regardless of the type of application. However, building stone offers the most distinctive look for custom installations.

Choosing the right stone for the job is easy with some planning and makes all the difference in the quality of your project. You can call on Owner, Joe Valles, to share his expertise in building with natural stone. He's glad to meet with clients early in their design process for a free consultation
