Dry Stack & Mortar
Second story addition on a stone home built in 1940
A second story was added to this older stone home in the Five Points area of Raleigh. A steeper roof pitch was used to suggest an English cottage. European Stone Masonry LLC dismantled the top edge of the stonework and seamlessly rebuilt the facade around the entire house. Steel lentils above the windows were replaced with stone for a more authentic look. The stone chimney was dismantled down to the roofline. Finally, a taller chimney was built and finished with reclaimed, antique chimney pots sourced in Pittsburgh.
